Mary Sallee has a variety of experience accompanying soloists, ensembles and choirs. Because of her capacity to play by ear, she is comfortable playing in a variety of styles and settings whether academic, church or community-based. As an experienced vocalist with a degree in vocal education, Mary is comfortable not only as an accompanist but as a vocal coach and choir director. She has directed choral ensembles at a variety of levels from church choirs and community chamber groups to children's honor choirs such as Circle the State With Song. For years, she sang and was a substitute accompanist for the Canterbury Choral society of OKC, the Windsong Chamber Choir and the Norman Singers not to mention the OU Graduate Choral, University Singers, OU Chamber Choir and Collegium Musicum. She has also served as staff accompanist for the Fall Adult Arts Institute Choral Program. With her experience in opera and musical theater productions throughout college and after graduation, Mary is comfortable playing 'cattle-call' auditions as well as assisting with local music theater productions. She also enjoys playing for dancers and served as the modern dance accompanist for several years at the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute. As an active Rotarian, Mrs. Sallee has served her morning Rotary Club as pianist since 1996. She has also performed or entertained for district events, fundraisers and banquets since 2000. For six years, she served as the official accompanist for the International Rotary Assembly in Anaheim and San Diego, CA. |
